If there’s a twin engine aircraft that has earnt the reputation of darling of general aviation, the Beechcraft Baron has got to be it.

The Baron is renowned world-wide as the enduring soldier of the air, and here at Curtis Aviation, our 1979 Baron BE55, VH-VHO, has helped endless pilots take their flying skills to the next level and launch flying careers.

Why fly a Baron B55?

You don’t need to hang around our hangar for too long to find out what a popular aircraft Beechcraft Baron B55, VH-VHO, is.  It’s got speed, handling feels sturdy and, on top of that, it’s a comfortable and fantastic looking aeroplane.

It’s the perfect IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) trainer. It’s higher performance than most twin trainers, and builds the kind of experience employers will be looking for when employing IFR qualified pilots.

It seats up to four people and is perfectly suited to multi engine endorsement training as well.

You’ll also often see ‘The Baron’ gracing the skies on charter and private hire, including getting in and out of many bush strips with surprising ease.

How fast will the B55 fly?

You’re looking at a max speed of around 195 knots (361 kms/hr), and normal cruise speed of 187 knots (346 kms/hr), with a rate of climb of 1690 fpm (515 metres per min).
