Private Instrument Rating – Enroute (SEA) Rating + RNAV-GNSS Approaches
The Private Instrument Flight Rules – En-route rating plus RNAV-GNSS instrument approaches adds an entirely new dimension to your flying. The ‘PIR’ rating permits you to fly in less than VFR weather and perhaps at times more convenient to you. The PIR allows for instrument flight in private (not commercial) operations only.

The initial step in obtaining a PIR is the en-route rating which allows visual departures to LSALT, however, at Curtis Aviation we believe that the PIR En-route should incorporate at least the RNAV-GNSS instrument approach and this course is based on that philosophy. Additional privileges such as night, instrument departures, arrivals etc. may be added.

Private Instrument Rating Enroute rating training includes the following:

  • Flight Time (including flight tests) – 25 hours
  • Flight simulator – 15 hours
  • Pre-flight and post-flight briefings
  • Landing Fees (excludes Sydney International)
  • En-route IFR charges
  • ATO Fee for Flight Test.

Conditions:

  • PIR training starts from $17,036 (Cessna-182T)
  • The Curtis Aviation PIR rating course (and costs) may be tailored to individual requirements.
  • All costs are based on student averages and may vary individually.
  • The course assumes the PIR examination is passed.
  • Curtis Aviation guarantees no price increase once enrolled in a package course.
  • Payments – progressive payments are available.
  • Training will be carried out in the Cessna 182T G1000 or Cirrus SR22.
  • Issuance of rating is dependent on achieving the standard required. Any flight hours in excess of 25 hours or additional simulator work in excess of 15 hours will be charged according to the board rates.
