Flying Training

Completing a tailwheel endorsement is like undertaking an advanced driving course – just ask any tailwheel-endorsed pilot.

You not only learn how to take off and land an aeroplane properly; you can access a whole new range of fun and exciting aircraft to fly.

Operating a tailwheel aeroplane does not, contrary to popular opinion require skills greater than those possessed by the average pilot. It simply requires a greater degree of concentration and attention to detail. Read more here.

This then prohibits you from accepting lower standards and aids you in becoming a more aware and skilful pilot. You will learn to really fly not drive an aeroplane.

A typical endorsement will take in the order of 5 hours to complete in one of our Citabrias – this includes upper air work, normal, short-field, crosswind take-off and landings.

Curtis Aviation has two types of tailwheel training aeroplanes available as follows:–

  • ACA Citabria (7GCBC) – two-seat, high-wing taildragger with 160 hp engine and fixed pitch propeller.
  • Cessna 180 – four seat, high wing monoplane of metal construction with 235 hp engine and a constant speed propeller.

Conditions:

The course (and costs) may be tailored to individual requirements.

All costs are based on student averages and may vary individually.

Curtis Aviation guarantees no price increase once enrolled in a package course.

Payments – on commencement of the package.

Issuance of the endorsement is dependent on achieving the standard required.
